Is it just us, or has summer come to an abrupt halt? The nights are getting much shorter, the leaves are starting to turn, and the mornings are definitely cool and crisp. Soon, your kids will need to move indoors and play. But that's not a sad thing! Here at BulbHead, we encourage you to put on your thinking cap and get your DIY on. Today we're sharing a super-easy DIY play doh recipe in honor of National Play Doh Day. (Yes, it's a real holiday!) Celebrate it right by mixing together this super-simple recipe with ingredients you already have on hand. We guarantee you and your kids will love it!
To begin, combine one cup water, one tablespoon vegetable oil, 1/2 cup salt, 1 tablespoon cream of tartar, and your choice of food coloring into a sauce pan and heat until warm. Whisk until there are no lumps. Remove from heat and add one cup of flour. Stir, then knead until smooth. Store in an airtight container. The cream of tartar makes this DIY play doh last six months or more, so make sure it is added! Easy, right?
You can get really creative and make glow-in-the-dark DIY play doh! To do this, omit the food coloring and instead add two capsules of vitamin B-50 complex. You'll need a black light to see the vibrant effects, but trust us, it glows very bright!
Did you whip up your own DIY play doh using our recipe? Or do you have any other DIY tips to share with us? We'd love to hear!
