Happy Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day!

Happy Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day!

Happy July! Do you know what today is? …No? Why, it’s one of our favorite holidays, Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day! What, you’ve never heard of it? We'll celebrate by telling you about some of the most creative ice cream flavors we’ve come across. Plus you’ll find out what the most popular flavor is here at the BulbHead office. Easily one of the best and most fun holidays, don’t you think?

1. Potato Champion’s Poutine from Salt and Straw

Potatoes and ice cream? The combination sounds brilliant. Salt and Straw throws them together and according to them, it’s a match made in starchy, creamy heaven. We’re hungry just thinking about it. Imagine digging into a plate of French fries covered in gravy topped with little puffs of cheese-curd-flavored marshmallows. Whoa.  It’s almost too much for us to handle. But if you’re into poutine and ice cream (and seriously, who doesn’t love both) and you’re in Portland or LA, be adventurous and give it a try.

2. Peach Riesling from Moomers

There are no bells or whistles with this ice cream flavor, what you see is what you get. And what you get is something truly unique and utterly refreshing. Deliciously smooth peach ice cream is blended with a Riesling wine and fresh fruit pieces. Sometimes you don’t need to go big to be creative and just let the flavors speak for themselves.

3. Dainty Gentlemen from Bi-Rite Creamery

We’re cheating here, not only is this a unique flavor, this is a sundae with a twist. Homemade honey lavender ice cream is topped with hot fudge, blood orange olive oil, and maldon sea salt. Honey lavender ice cream by itself sounds absolutely delicious, but with salt and olive oil on top? Apparently it works, so when you’re in San Francisco it’s a must-try.

4. Lobster Ice Cream from Ben and Bill's

Of course this wild ice cream is made in Maine, could it possibly be made anywhere else? This butter–flavored ice cream has chopped up, cooked, local lobster folded right into it. It’s one of their most popular samples. Would you try it?

5. Brunch from Davey's Ice Cream

Brunch is that magical time in between breakfast and lunch and if we're being honest, it’s our favorite part of the weekend. Davey’s Ice Cream in New York City captures the enchantment of brunch with this flavor which combines Brioche French Toast, cinnamon-maple syrup, and coffee-glazed bacon. The only thing that’s missing is the mimosa.

So… what’s the official favorite ice cream flavor over at BulbHead? When we polled the office, we thought for sure it would have been either an overwhelming response of either chocolate or vanilla, but it’s neither! We got a wide array of answers, like rum raisin, coconut, chunky monkey, bubble gum,and chocolate chip cookie dough. What’s your favorite?

We hope you stay cool and enjoy this amazing holiday! Grab a bowl of your favorite flavor and enjoy.
